Just over the hill from the Hollywood bustle, STUDIO CITY features quaint tree-lined residential streets sit side-by-side with some of LA's best and most trendy dining. Lively Ventura Boulevard offers several classic sushi houses along with small-plate tapas bars and stylish gastropubs. Local residents hit Wilacre Park for woodsy hiking trails and panoramic Valley views. The CBS Studio Center dates back to the silent film era and gives the neighborhood its name.

SHERMAN OAKS is popular with individuals seeking all the best that suburban living has to offer. With easy on/off freeway access, the area features two sleek shopping malls, including the noteworthy open-air Sherman Oaks Galleria. On Ventura Boulevard - the community’s main commercial strip - gastropubs, wine bars and bright brunch cafes mix it up with old-school Mexican and burger joints.

ENCINO is one of the oldest communities in the San Fernando Valley, with the Spanish having first settled there in 1769. According to many residents, the area still has a small town, almost rural feel: community lot sizes are larger on average than in other parts of LA.  Many amenities are within walking distance while the main Ventura Boulevard shopping/dining area, Encino Commons (dubbed The Valley's "Miracle Mile"), is home to more than 300 businesses.

BURBANK is home to renowned TV and movie studios, including Walt Disney and Warner Bros.   And there really is a 34-block "Beautiful Downtown Burbank" packed with over 300 shops, restaurants and businesses. If it's cool and funky you're looking for, head over to Magnolia Park, the area's 1920’s Brooklynesque neighborhood boasting an impressive collection of retro retailers.   To the north, hike the Verdugo Mountains and Stough Canyon Nature Center while taking in breathtaking views of The Valley.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (NoHo), an eclectic, fast-growing San Fernando Valley neighborhood, is home to the constantly humming/ever changing NoHo Arts District. Anchored by the historic El Portal Theatre plus many other up-and-coming playhouses, the local "scene" encompasses art galleries, sound studios and the Academy of TV Arts & Sciences. Subway-accessible, NoHo also features retro-inspired cocktail lounges, craft beer bars, vintage shops and casual cafes.

To the west of North Hollywood lies lies the quieter, tree-lined streets of VALLEY VILLAGE. With access to top-rated schools and public play areas, this neighborhood is a favorite with young families.

TOLUCA LAKE takes it name from the natural basin fed by the Los Angeles River and maintained by surrounding property owners. Large trees line many of the streets and provide shade necessary for non-succulent-type plants to grow into a floral oasis. Catch a show at Garry Marshall's Falcon Theatre (showcasing new writers & improv) or dine at one of the city's best restaurants, cafes or brunch spots. If browsing is your thing, the shops along Riverside Drive offer a fine selection of both niche and boutique without a chain store in sight.

LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE lies northwest of Pasadena, offering residents a semi-rural atmosphere and quality of life.  The area is home to the world-renowned Jet Propulsion Laboratories, Descanso Gardens, The Lanterman House, and a beautiful town center with shops and restaurants. There are approximately 24 miles of city and county trails that wind their way through both the town and the surrounding foothills attracting hikers, equestrians, bicyclists, dog walkers, runners and anyone wishing to enjoy the great outdoors.

Northeast of downtown Los Angeles, PASADENA is one of Southern California's most famous and beautiful communities. A mixture of old and new; palatial versus cottage living, the city boasts a deep, varied and pioneering architectural history.   The popular Old Town district, featuring an impressive assortment of Victorian and Art Deco buildings, is a favored spot for shopping and dining. Meanwhile, the strikingly modern Norton Simon Museum houses notable European and Asian art, plus a world-famous sculpture garden. Of course, everyone is familiar with Pasadena's annual Rose Parade; it's famous sports stadium known for hosting major sporting events and concerts.

Nestled between Burbank and Pasadena, GLENDALE sits at the foot of the Verdugo Mountains. A large and vibrant downtown area offers residents a wide variety of shopping, restaurants, entertainment and cultural venues: The Museum of Neon Art showcases light-based, kinetic and electric art, plus vintage neon signs; Brand Park features hiking trails and the 19th-century Doctor’s House Museum & Gazebo.

South of Glendale sits ATWATER VILLAGE, a bohemian outpost featuring a diverse collection of artisan shops and gourmet/health food restaurants. For outdoor enthusiasts, the Verdugo Mountains offer equestrian routes and hilltop lookouts; northeast of the city, trails run through the rugged Deukmejian Wilderness Park in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains.
